A good home cleaning kit can save you space, time and money. You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on multiple cleaning products that just take up space in your cabinets. You just need a few home cleaning kit essentials. A complete home cleaning kit provides you with the tools necessary to clean your home quickly and efficiently.
Homemade, all-natural cleaners are wonderful to use and often cheaper. However, as a busy working mom with limited time, I have opted to purchase my cleaning products. I try to purchase environmentally-friendly products that are safe and effective.
The general items listed as home cleaning kit essentials are all important components of a complete cleaning kit. I encourage you to look online for recipes to make your own versions of these products if you prefer to make your own cleaning products.

STORAGE
I like to keep most of my cleaning products and supplies in a large, plastic caddy. I find I can clean the home faster if I carry my supplies with me room to room. A big, roomy storage caddy or a large plastic basket or bin works great for cleaning kits. When you are finished cleaning, just slide the caddy under the kitchen sink, or place in the laundry or utility room.
Store larger supplies, like mops and vacuums, in a utility closet, the laundry room, or in the garage.
POWER tip: Use a heavy plastic or metal container so that you can easily wipe it down if your supplies spill or leak. Wicker baskets are hard to keep clean and will leak if your supplies spill.
CADDY SUPPLIES
Here are the supplies you can carry in your caddy:
Sponge– to scrub tubs, sinks and countertops.
Microfiber cloths– great for dusting surfaces.
Old toothbrush– to scrub tough stains and hard to reach areas.
Paper towels– to use with your disinfecting, all-purpose cleaner.
Rubber gloves– to protect your hands from chemicals and germs while you clean.
Dish soap– use on items that require cleaning with “warm, soapy water”.
All-purpose cleaner (with disinfectant)– use as a general surface cleaner and disinfectant.
Disinfectant wipes- to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces like door knobs, lightswitches, and handles.
Tub/tile cleaner– to remove soap scum and dirt.
Toilet bowl cleaner– to clean and disinfect your toilet bowl.
Glass cleaner– to clean mirrors and windows.
Wood polish-to polish tables and other wood surfaces.
Stainless steal wipes– to wipe down stainless steal appliances.
Magic eraser– to remove scuff marks on baseboards and scuffs and stains in the bathroom and kitchen.
NON-CADDY SUPPLIES
Obviously, you can not carry all your cleaning supplies with you to each room in a caddy. Here is a list of larger items necessary for cleaning:
Mop and bucket– I use the O Cedar EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop for all of my heavy duty mopping. For lighter, everyday use, I use the Swiffer WetJet.
Broom and dust pan– for sweeping in hard to get places. I don’t use a broom often. I usually vacuum my floors and then mop. But sometimes, there are hard to reach areas that I can access better with a broom.
Vacuum cleaner– I prefer to vacuum all of my floors instead of sweeping. Vacuuming removes dust and allergens from your floors and carpets.
Toilet bowl brush– I keep a brush under each bathroom sink.
Swiffer duster with extender– to dust hard to reach, higher places like ceiling fans.
